Remember Psalm 1?
Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so,
But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the ungodly shall perish.
Especially the verse:
He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Well, years ago the Lord was teaching me about discernment again and he gave me this visin and analogy.
He said we needed both roots and wings. We should see ourselves as a large willow tree planted by the ‘River of Life’ ~ He being that River. We need deeply planted roots to go deep into the truth and the word of God to give us stability and a foundation from which to grow, for there is no other foundation built that will stand up than the foundation of Jesus Christ the Lord, the One True Foundation, our Rock and the Chief Cornerstone. Without roots we will be flighty and fall for every wind of doctrine that comes our way and we will not be able to stand against false error or spiritual fads or lies and half truths.
ON THE OTHER HAND!
We all need willowy branches that can flow in the wind with the flexibility of following the suddenlies of God. These branches of the body of Christ are the ones who always tremble when God’s presence is int he room. They remind of of the very real and tangible presence of God in our midst. Without these willowy branches of new tender shoots of new growth we will become stagnate and hard hearted. Our necks become stiff and we become calused and even legalistic in our pursuit of holiness even at the cost f love and following the Holy Spirit.
Imagine the arrogance iof saying “Iam so holy and grounded, I don’t need to follow Holy Spirit, I have his written word!”
YUKKY, stinky, pride will casue us to think it is all about what we do instean of the imoportance of following God in what HE is doing in the earth.
Not to mention it is all about LOVE! Relationship with God is the most important part of life and the afterlife!
15 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away;[a] and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will[b] ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.
9 “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. 10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.
11 “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.
Let us all be deeply rooted in the ‘River of Life” and have the new growth of the Holy Spirit in our lives!
Be blessed, Cyndi
